Martin:
Blogging.

Amy:
Do you have a new blog up?

Martin:
I put one up this morning.

Amy [to Michelle]:
Did you blog today too?

Michelle:
Yeah, this afternoon.

Martin:
Do you have a new blog up yet?
It's been ... what?
A year?

Dancing Fool!

So tonight was the premiere of dancing with the stars and naturally, because I am addicted, I had to watch.  However, since I actually still have an exam on Thursday and Friday, I'm gonna make this short.
Based on the premiere for the last season, I predicted the top three to be Mario, Emmitt, and Joey.
So, continuing that tradition here are my predictions for the final 3 of this season:

3rd Place:
Ian Ziering (I literally had to look up his last name) is the new Joey Lawrence.  Sorry, to Miss Cheryl Burke but I don't think you're three-peating it this season.  Its just not going to happen.  Ian-What's-His-Face-Whose-Last-Name-I-Couldn't-Remember-From-That-90210-Show may have some of the moves but he's not going to make any headway against his fierce competition.  Does he even have a fan base anymore?  Has he done anything in the last 5 years?  I think that says it all.  Cheryl might get some votes from her own fan base but I don't think it'll help that much.

2nd Place:
Joey Fatone is the new (not as hot) Mario Lopez.  He's got the moves and the funnies to take it to the finals but I think he'll never shake off the *Nsync thing.  Its just too bad.  We'll see how this season progresses but his fan base (aka me) is at that point where they're embarrassed to know who Joey is.  That's sad and tragic.  On the up side, his smoking partner Kym will get some guy votes just so they can see her in things that are thisclose to not being legal for television broadcast.  (Did anyone else notice that near wardrobe malfunction?)

WINNER 1st Place:
Apolo Anton Ohno is the new hotter (seriously, lets all just take a moment ... *sigh*) and hopefully single Emmitt Smith.  He's going to get all the ladies voting for him and his cute blonde ditzy partner will get all the borderline pedophilic guys.  (Sorry.  Its true.  She's 18 years old.  Ew.)  It's gonna come down to Joey and Apolo (actually its kinda between them right now), but I think in the end Apolo is going to edge out Joey just based on his Olympic gold medal winner status.  In this competition, you don't suck, then it just comes down to popularity.

Possible Candidates for 4th Place Include: Laila Ali (Depending on how things go, she might be the next Vivica Fox or the Monique Coleman) or Clyde Drexler

My bed for elimination: Heather Mills (She's just got too much bad press but she might get some pity points for her artificial leg).  I also don't know who half the other people are so any of them could go. Eh.

What do you all think?  Is it gonna be Joey or Apolo?  Whose getting the boot on Thursday?

sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo EXCITED!

MY MOM IS VISITING ME IN CHICAGO!  She's arriving in like 30 minutes!  Yay!
Even though I should be studying for my musculoskeletal/head/neck exam, I'll probably spend the weekend shopping and eating lots!  And if I'm really really lucky, she'll be nice enough to help me clean my house (don't judge me).

In other news, I'm going to be dancing again!  Yay!

For your reference, just as a recap:

Dancing in College (Average Numbers for 2nd Semester of Senior Year):
    Hip Hop: 4-6 Hrs/Week
    Modern/Jazz: 4-6 Hrs/Week
    Ballroom/Latin: 4-6 Hrs/Week
    African: 4-6 Hrs/Week
        16-24 Hrs Total

Dancing in Med school (Average Numbers for Fall Half of 1st Year):
        0-0.5 Hrs Total

So, as you probably have noticed from the excessive number of posts on dancing, I've been going through some serious dancing withdrawal, but that's all about to change ...
I just auditioned for a performance group at a Chicago dance studio called Studio Ula La (Isn't the name hilariously awesome?  The owner's name is Ula.) and I GOT IN!
My first practice is this Saturday so I haven't actually done any real stuff so . . . we'll see how I feel after that.
But come on, the stuff is called "Passions" -- its gotta be awesome!

Perfection . . .

Since I have an exam coming up next week (its only supposedly the hardest one of the year so, eh.), I thought it would be an excellent idea to procrastinate by looking up ABT online.
So ABT is American Ballet Theatre, only the premiere ballet company in the US, and they're coming to Chicago in March to do Romeo and Juliet, which I am ridiculously excited for (thus, prompting the mad googling of ABT).
However, it turns out, my favorite ABT principal ballerina, Alessandra Ferri, is not coming and its because . . . . she's retiring from ABT.    Her last performance will be in June and I'm trying to rationalize a $400 trip and a $100 ticket to go see her dance Juliet in Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s Romeo and Juliet.  Hmmmm . .. . Perhaps if I manage to pass this year . . . or lets just make that this unit for now.

Anyways, in honor of her utter brilliance, I wanted to share some of her incredible dancing. I  her.
If only I could dance like her, then I'd quit med school  For serious.

Clip One: Scene in Juliet's Bedroom from Romeo & Juliet featuring Alessandra Ferri & Angel Corella

Clip Two: Balcony Scene from Romeo & Juliet featuring Alessandra Ferri & Julio Bocca
(For all those of you who watched Centerstage, its the same scene that Julie Kent and Ethan Stiefel performed).

Clip Three: Sting video featuring Alessandra Ferri
(I think its kinda funny that Sting has to be shirtless and stretches before playing the guitar . . . .on what looks like a ship propellor.  How fantastic is that? )

Sigh.

Amypalooza = Best birthday EVER!

Okay, I know this is a little late but I've been too busy this week & I've finally found some time to procrastinate so thus . . . Xanga update!

This past weekend was my birthday and I had such a FAB time, it was amazing!

A big hearty THANK YOU from . . . where else? . . .. the heart  to everyone for all the birthday wishes/calls/wall comments/flowers/carrier pigeons that coo-ed "happy birthday" . . . so the last one didn't actually happen for real but there's always next year. *hint* *hint*

AND a big *e-HUGGLES* for all you guys who showed up to the birthday party that spanned like 2-days thus making it more of a birth-weekend festival (with special props to my favorite Whang, Dennis who planned everything and would be my twin brother if I was Korean and a man . . .  and named Menace. Wouldn't that have been hilarious?  Twins named Dennis & Menace?  hehehehe).

It was seriously the best birthday ever.  so far.

Thankfully, the weekend, as described below, was documented by my addictive picturing taking (with some minor, practically unnoticable supplemental illustrations).

Part I: Dim sum-alicious & fishies.

Unsuspecting me goes to the L stop on Grand where I am pleasantly surprised (read: confused) by the fact that Dennis suddenly yells "Happy Birthday" at me because it was not technically my birthday . . .

That's me wearing red mittens and scarves (which I don't technically own but added for artistic license).
Don't you just love my hair?

Then I get serenaded by the gang (Martin, Jiyeon, Mike, Dennis, Mari) to a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday" at the Grand L stop & we headed off to consume excessive amounts of delicious, delicious dim sum . . .

Me shoveling food into my mouth with my 3-fingered hands.

After dim sum, all of us who were year of the pig took a picture with the pig zodiac statue.

Not that we resemble pigs in any way.  Especially after dim sum . . . . *drool*

Then Dennis, Mari, & I went to the aquarium. . .

where Dennis was my catch of the day.

We admired some pretty fishes (Nemo! Piranhas! Sushi! Yum!) and then . . . .
Mari decided to start a new trend with starfish as hair/face jewelry.
It's all the rage in the Pacific & Atlantic. Duh.

But the highlight of the aquarium was (drum roll please) . . .

A turtle farting (note the air bubble coming out of its butt).

I kid you not.  Seriously, we were lucky to have experienced that monumental moment.

Part II: Drinks and dessert at Delacosta (mad circus place).

On my actual birthDAY, Dennis and I decide to do dessert and drinks at this posh/trendy place on Illinois called Delacosta where the decorations looked like a circus performer . . . who ate a pack of cards . . .  threw up there.

It was FABULOUS.  I have never been so amused by decor ever.

We got seated at the back of the restaurant . . .

This picture is misleading in that the place looks quite tastefully decorated.

And we ordered some of their specialty drinks and four desserts because we couldn't make up our minds and because I think that we as a human population should be pro-dessert (except for diabetes).

We got some awesome drinks (I recommend Jess's white sangria & Ryan's watermelon muddle.  YUM-O). . .

Here's Ryan and his drink, the Watermelon Muddle (only the girliest drink on the menu), which I had no part in choosing.  It was all him.  I was not involved at all, especially not in the ordering of it nor in drinking of it.

All the girls (plus Dennis because he has great tastes) each had the restaurant's signature alcoholic popsicle as well.

Here Jess & Jiyeong are licking it seductively and I'm . . . . screwing up.

Then, before we knew it, the desserts arrive.

They were orgasmically delicious.

Ryan couldn't even wait for me to finish taking the picture.
It was just that good.

So thank you again to all you guys, especially Mari, Martin, Ryan, Dave, Jess, Matt, Jiyeon, Mike, & Dennis (the last three of whome made a DOUBLE appearance).  I *heart* you guys!

That's me blowing out my birthday candle.

If I had actually made a birthday wish . . . you all probably would have made it come true.

Lots of love,
Amy

PS.  Props to Dennis for the term "Amypalooza."
